Simona and Gianluca are two radiant people and that day in May, when they decided to celebrate their wedding, resembled to them. A poetic light colored their walk within the walls of Monteriggioni, from the wheat fields that stretch to Siena to the beautiful estate that hosted the reception, the Tenuta Bichi Borghesi, an authentic angle of intact beauty in the heart of Tuscany. A wedding reception followed in an original and splendid setting with an Italian-style garden, avenues and the lawns as perfect backdrop for this occasion.
This wedding was a really unforgettable experience and also the parish church – Pieve di San Pietro in Bossolo near Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, situated just a few kilometres away, was a jewel.
Also the Tuscan poet Dante Alighieri used the turrets of Monteriggioni to evoke the sight of the ring of giants encircling the Infernal abyss:
As with circling round
Of turrets, Monteriggioni crowns his walls;
E’en thus the shore, encompassing the abyss,
Was turreted with giants, half their length
Uprearing, horrible, whom Jove from heaven
Yet threatens, when his muttering thunder rolls.
